For The Skeptics
"If one gives an answer before he hears,
it is his folly and shame." -Proverbs 18:13
At SRFellowship we encourage skepticism. The bible verse above states that to have your mind made up on a matter that you have not thoroughly examined is foolish and so we have complied a collection of resources to present to you the case for Jesus. Why should I believe the Bible over other holy teachings? Does it really matter if I am a Christian? What makes Christianity true?
"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth." - 2Tim 2:15
We at SRF recognize the great need for sound Bible resources to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for the walk of faith, and for every other aspect of the Christian experience. Some Christians might think the only resource we need as believers is the Bible, and while this seems to be the most fundamental and safe way to approach Biblical studies (so we don't get mixed up in opinions of theologians and forget to study the Bible with the Holy Spirit first), it's actually not the prescribed method from the Bible itself. Many writers in the Bible site other writings from extra Biblical sources including but not limited to secular philosophers, religious writers, and historical and genealogical works. Also, the Bible show us the picture of the necessity of relying on other people to help understand the depths of the scriptures and not just a single person's interpretation as The Holy Spirit resides not just in one but in the Body. The eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you,” nor again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” - 1Corinthians 12:21. We even see the example of Paul who consulted with Peter and the other elders in Jerusalem for an answer for the Judaizers whom he continually encountered on his journey. Also, because of the plethora of false teaching, we have exorcised extreme caution compiling these resources for Biblical study and strong defense against false teaching.
